Narodni muzej Aranđelovac

Museum Website Development

Museum website development for Narodni muzej Aranđelovac was a redesign of an outdated and slow platform: a new bilingual (SR/EN) site with an active news blog, ticket pricing and local SEO for visitors from Aranđelovac, the surrounding area and abroad.

THE CHALLENGES WE FACED

Why museum website development was the right call

A redesign does not start with the way a site looks, it starts with an inventory of what does not work. For a cultural institution that means something different than for a commercial site: a visitor who cannot find basic information does not go to a competitor, they simply do not come. So museum website development began with the question of which information the institution has to communicate to the public and in what order, and only then with the visual language. The three problems below were the most expensive ones in terms of the institution’s visibility.

1

Slow loading, high bounce rate

The old site loaded slowly, 8 seconds of waiting that visitors no longer tolerate. The consequence was twofold: Google ranked the site lower for searches like “muzej Aranđelovac”, and foreign tourists on mobile networks left the page before they reached information about exhibitions and tickets.

2

Confusing navigation

Visitors could not intuitively find basic information such as opening hours, ticket prices, current exhibitions or contact details. The old site structure reflected the internal logic of the institution, not what a visitor looks for when planning a trip to the museum.

3

Foreign tourists with no working EN version

Aranđelovac attracts tourists from the region and from Europe, but the old site had no serious English version. The museum was practically invisible to international audiences, one of the most important target groups for any cultural institution of this type.

OUR APPROACH

A strategic, phased process

We followed the same four-phase approach we use on every project, with the rule that the next phase does not start until the previous one is approved. Bilingual content demands that discipline even more strictly than usual, because every later change is multiplied by the number of languages. What it looks like when multilingual support is planned up front instead of bolted on at the end is described on our multilingual website development page, and the wider context for institutional sites is on corporate website development.

1

Audit and strategy

We analyzed the existing site, mapped its technical and UX shortcomings, and researched the searches potential museum visitors actually use, both the local audience in Aranđelovac and foreign tourists planning a visit.

2

Design and prototype

We created a visual identity that reflects the seriousness of a cultural institution, with clear navigation and a focus on the mobile experience, because most tourists research museums on a phone before they arrive.

3

Development and optimization

We built a WordPress site with Elementor Pro and a bilingual SR/EN structure, optimized for speed: WebP images, lazy loading and LiteSpeed caching as standard.

4

Launch and SEO setup

We configured RankMath Pro, set up Museum schema markup and made sure Google indexed both language versions from day one after launch.

RESULTS OF DEDICATED WORK

Measurable performance, real results

The numbers below refer to the site after launch and can be verified with publicly available tools. For a cultural institution the technical result is a means, not an end: the point is that the program, the opening hours and the announcements get found when someone is looking for them. That part of the job does not end at launch, which is why museum website development is followed by SEO content as a separate service that picks up where the build stops.

1

Perfect Best Practices score

Google gives a perfect score because the site passes every technical standard: HTTPS security, accessibility and modern web practices, with no deprecated code and no console errors.

2

Desktop load time

LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) is under 1 second on desktop. Google treats an LCP under 2.5 seconds as a “good” result, and we are almost three times better than that threshold.

3

Total blocking time

Zero milliseconds of JavaScript blocking on desktop. The site responds instantly to every click and scroll.
